I love any kind of citrus in my water, but on those hot, humid summer days, a glass of extra special Limeade is called for.
Lime Simple Syrup:
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Water
Juice and zest of 3 Limes
I cup Lime Juice
3 cups Water
Lime Simple Syrup
Make the simple syrup by combining the ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, and then remove from heat. Stir to dissolve all of the sugar. Let cool completely.
Combine the lime simple syrup with the lime juice and water. Serve over lots of ice!
This also makes a wonderful Lemonade.
Add ginger to the simple syrup. Remove before adding to the water and lime juice
Add mint leaves to the final drink
Add frozen berries to the glass before adding the limeade
Add a dash of unsweetened Cranberry Juice to your glass before adding the limeade
Substitute a cup or two of sparkling water for the water in the limeade to add a bit of fizz.
