There are days when only a specific craving will do. You know the ones. The kind of yearning that settles deep in your bones and whispers a single, insistent word. Last week, that word for me was "ramen."

I’ve made ramen in the past and, oh my, it was so good.  However, when it is a Wednesday night and you haven’t prepared that amazing broth (which is essential to ramen), going out for ramen is the only option.

So, I went on another culinary adventure to find a local, soul-satisfying, steaming bowl of comfort that could chase away the early autumn chill. My quest led me to a local gem I’d seen: Izumi in Attleboro. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

I walked in with a singular mission, and my eyes immediately scanned the menu for the ramen section. While the extensive selection of Japanese and Thai dishes—sushi, tempura, pad thai, and more—was incredibly tempting, I remained steadfast. And then I saw it: Duck Ramen. My decision was made.

On this night, I decided to do takeout, so I had some time to wait as they prepared my ramen.  While I waited, I couldn't help but notice the incredible-looking dishes being delivered to the tables around me. Colorful platters of sushi and sashimi, steaming plates of pad thai, and crispy tempura all looked and smelled fantastic. The menu is a delightful exploration of Japanese and Thai cuisine, with something to entice every palate, from traditional fried rice and gyoza to refreshing seaweed salad.

When I got home and opened up the huge bowl of ramen, I was instantly hit with the warm, comforting, fragrant miso broth. Nestled in the broth were perfectly cooked noodles, tender slices of duck, crisp bean sprouts, vibrant green scallions, and a perfectly soft-boiled egg, its golden yolk just waiting to be released. Each spoonful was a symphony of flavors and textures. The earthy depth of the miso, the subtle sweetness of the duck, the fresh crunch of the vegetables, and the satisfying chew of the noodles. It was more than just a meal; it was comfort in a bowl, a hug from the inside out.

My first visit to Izumi was a resounding success, and it certainly won't be my last. With so many delicious reasons to return, I have a feeling I'll be making my way through their entire menu. If you find yourself in the Attleboro area with a craving for something truly special, I urge you to pay a visit to Izumi. And if that craving happens to be for an unforgettable bowl of ramen, you'll know exactly what to order.

Happy Eating!
