Pimento Cheese

When I make Pimento Cheese, I like to add a few more spices to amp up the flavor so check out the notes to see what you could do to make this southern specialty your own. This is so easy to make, that you can mix it up for unexpected guests.

Ingredients:

1 8oz package Low Fat Cream Cheese at room temperature

1 8oz block of Cheddar Cheese - grated

2 Tbsp Sour Cream

1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce

½ tsp Garlic Powder

½ tsp Salt

¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper

1 4oz jar diced Pimentos

Method:

Drain the Pimentos from their juice.

Mix all the ingredients together. Refrigerate 30 minutes before serving.

Yep...that's it.

Notes:

You can use Pimento Cheese as a spread or add it to dishes like grits, sandwiches, casseroles, or even as a stuffing for vegetables (think mushrooms, or jalapeno peppers).

Here are some add-ins to your Pimento Cheese:

  • Jalapeno peppers - minced

    • You could even substitute the cheddar cheese for pepper jack cheese

  • Bacon - crumbled

  • Sriracha

  • Frank’s Red Hot Sauce

  • Chives

  • Sundried tomatoes - minced

  • Use a smoked cheddar to change up the flavor as well.

One of my favorite uses for Pimento Cheese is to make a grilled cheese sandwich. Yummm!
