Steamed Eggs

If you are looking for a tasty, simple meal, look no further than these Steamed Eggs.

I found the recipe on one of my favorite food blogs, The Woks of Life, and was intrigued. The way they described them, I couldn't help but whip up a serving right away. The ingredients are so simple. I had them all on hand.

  • Eggs

  • Water

  • Stock

  • Salt

  • Sesame Oil

  • Scallions

What is different about these is that they do not contain milk or cream, yet the cooking process produces a light and flavorful "custard." If you are looking for a healthier version of a crustless quiche, give this a try.

The recipe below makes enough for four people, but I often use just one egg and make that a single serving. Because the recipe is in proportion, it's easy. For the salt, I only used a pinch, and for the sesame oil, I only used a couple of drops.

Steamed Eggs

If you aren't used to steaming things, it is easy to do. I used a simple metal steaming basket that you can get for under $10. You may also have a steaming insert for your pot. Of course, you can also use a bamboo steamer if you have one.

I loved the topping of scallions. They added a slightly oniony flavor. On the blog, they said you could also add a bit of soy sauce to the top of the finished eggs. I think that would be delicious as well.

Try these when you are looking for something simple for a meal.

About Me

Hi!  I'm Jen

Cooking is a passion passed down from both of my grandmothers to my mother and then to my sister and me.

Throughout my career, I was always drawn back to food.  I've learned from experienced chefs, apprenticed with professional bakers, and tasted coffee with international experts.

Today I'm sharing those experiences with you.
