If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably driven down Route 1A in Plainville a thousand times, heading toward the outlets or running errands, without even realizing you were passing by one of the best bowls of soul-warming comfort food in Massachusetts.
I’m talking about CeCe’s Ramen.
It is the definition of a "hidden gem." Tucked away in a modest storefront, it’s the kind of place that doesn't scream for attention, but once you know it’s there, you’ll find yourself craving it every time the temperature drops. I’m so glad my sister and friends told me about it. Now CeCe’s Ramen is on my list of favorite restaurants.
CeCe’s Ramen Is The Perfect Winter Escape
This past week, as a cold, snowy New England evening settled in, I knew exactly what I needed. There is something almost medicinal about a steaming bowl of ramen when the wind is howling outside.
The moment I stepped inside, the chill of the snow vanished. CeCe’s is a small, intimate space, but what it lacks in square footage, it more than makes up for in heart. The staff is incredibly nice and friendly—you’re greeted with genuine smiles that make you feel like a regular on your very first visit.

The Star of the Show: Tonkotsu Ramen
I decided to go with a classic: the Tonkotsu Ramen.
When it arrived, it was a work of art. The broth was incredibly rich and creamy (the sign of a kitchen that takes the time to do things right), and it had that deep, savory depth that only comes from hours of simmering. But what really impressed me was the freshness of the vegetables. Often, ramen toppings can feel like an afterthought, but at CeCe's, every element—from the crisp veggies to the perfectly prepared noodles—felt intentional and fresh.
By the time I reached the bottom of the bowl, I was perfectly full, completely warmed through, and already planning my next visit.
Not Just Ramen
CeCe's Ramen doesn't just make amazing Ramen, but they have a full menu of Japanese appetizers like Goyza, Shumai, Shrimp Tempura, and more. Plus, they have Rice Bowls, Poke Bowls, Steamed Buns, and even "Dry" Ramen, which are bowls with all the fillings and no broth.
What's also nice is if you do order Ramen for take-out, the broth comes separately. This allows you to warm it up if you want when you get home, without overcooking the other wonderful ramen ingredients.
A Few Insider Tips
If you’re planning to visit (and you absolutely should!), here are a few things to keep in mind:
Check the Clock: CeCe’s follows traditional hours and closes in the middle of the day between lunch and dinner. Be sure to check their website before you head out so you don't arrive while the kitchen is on break!
Order Ahead: Since it is a smaller, cozy spot, seating can fill up fast. Luckily, they offer a great online ordering system if you want to grab a bowl of comfort to go.
Keep Your Eyes Peeled: Slow down when you’re approaching the area! It’s easy to miss the entrance to the parking lot if you haven’t been to that building. I missed it on my first drive around, but trust me, I won’t miss it next time I go.
In a world of big chain restaurants, there is something so special about finding a small, local spot where the food is made with care, and the people are truly happy to see you. CeCe’s Ramen isn’t just a meal; it’s a hug in a bowl.
Stay warm and happy slurping!
